Best Genshin Impact Chongyun Team Combo

Chongyun

Chongyun will be the starter point of all combos as he needs to apply Cryo first to get the most out of Melt.

Sucrose

Sucrose works well with Chongyun as she can cause melt and since she doesn’t use any Physical Damage attacks, she will not be affected by Chongyun’s passive

Xingqiu

Xingqiu can group enemies to make it easier to pull off the elemental combos. With a relatively fast Energy Recharge, he can keep his Elemental Burst up almost immediately.

Fischl

During times when other skills are on cooldown, having Fischl’s Oz will be a great way to deal damage. It can cause either Overload or Superconduct which lowers Physical Damage Resistance.

Best Genshin Impact Chongyun Builds

Chongyun is a damage dealer through and through. A setback that he has is that his elemental skill converts all basic attacks made by polearms, claymores, and swords inside its AoE into Cryo attacks.

This can mean that even if you don’t want that elemental infusion, the only way to not get it is to move out of the AoE.

Best Weapons for Chongyun in Genshin Impact

If you’re keener for the Main DPS Chongyun, your best bet would be Wolf’s Gravestone.

If you’re looking for a more supportive, it’s going to be Skyward Pride for the best weapon.

If you don’t have any of those, Prototype Archaic fits both roles.

Wolf's Gravestone

Wolf's Gravestone

Increases ATK by 20%. On hit, attacks against opponents with less than 30% HP increase all party members’ ATK by 40% for 12s. Can only occur once every 30s.

Skyward Pride

Skyward Pride

Increases all DMG by 8%. After using an Elemental Burst, Normal or Charged Attack, on hit, creates a vacuum blade that does 80% of ATK as DMG to opponents along its path. Lasts for 20s or 8 vacuum blades.

Prototype Archaic

Prototype Archaic

On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to deal an additional 240% ATK DMG to opponents within a small AoE. Can only occur once every 15s.

Best Artifacts for Chongyun in Genshin Impact

There’s only one combination of artifacts for Chongyun and that’d be the 2 piece Blizzard Strayer and 2 piece Gladiator’s Finale. For Main stats look out for ATK Sands, Cryo DMG% Goblet, and Crit Rate/Crit Damage Circlet depending on your crit rate.

Blizzard Strayer

Blizzard Strayer

  • 2-piece effect: Cryo DMG Bonus +15%
  • 4-piece effect: When a character attacks an opponent affected by Cryo, their CRIT Rate is increased by 20%. If the opponent is Frozen, CRIT Rate is increased by an additional 20%.
Gladiator's Finale

Gladiator's Finale

  • 2-piece effect: ATK +18%.
  • 4-piece effect: If the wielder of this artifact set uses a Sword, Claymore or Polearm, increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%.

FAQs about Genshin Impact Chongyun

Chongyun is a four-star Cryo Claymore user who lives his life by working as an exorcist. He is a passionate young boy who has a modest take on life that has earned him fame throughout Liyue.

Approximately 17 years old. The age of Chongyun is not obviously stated in the game. His birthday is on September 7th

Overall, Chongyun is an excellent Cryo applier, whether it be as a sub-DPS or support. He may not be a main-DPS or physical damage dealer, but with efficient planning, Chongyun can excel in most areas.

Chongyun is best suited for a sub DPS role, and his normal attacks can be converted into cryo damage. We recommend using him in a party with Genshin Impact’s Diluc to help trigger melt, or Genshin Impact’s Razor for superconduct.

Diona is a better unit in general but for Cryo application specifically Chongyun is king. The way his E lets other characters’ melee synergize with their own kit is profoundly useful for selfish DPS characters like Diluc that want to stay out all the time.

Chongyun is a Cryo 4-star champion in Genshin Impact. His kit focuses on augmenting physical damage into Cryo damage and works well as both the main DPS and a support character.

Melt is one of the strongest Elemental Reactions in the game and Chongyun has a consistent method of applying the Cryo debuff with his Elemental Skill ability. This makes him a strong support character when paired with Pyro carries.

One preferred claymore for Chongyun is the Skyward Pride, but as it’s a five-star weapon, it can be hard to acquire. If you’re looking for something in the meantime, we recommend forging the Prototype Archaic via the blacksmith.

The best team composition for Chongyun includes Xingqiu, Fischl, and Sucrose.

When you’re using Chongyun, it’s important to focus on what will let you keep him in the rotation when his skills are recharging. Fischl is a great choice as one of the characters you can swap out when Chongyun needs to recover, but also an excellent choice for when you’re using Chongyun to set up reactions.

Fischl’s Elemental Skill has an incredibly short cooldown, meaning you can use it again and again and keep it on the field. Her skill summons her raven, Oz, who deals Electro damage to the enemy even when you switch out Fischl with someone else, such as Chongyun, to deal Cryo damage and create Superconduct reactions.

Easily one of the most versatile characters in the game, Xingqiu is a natural fit for a Chongyun based team. He’s right as home, as a Sub-DPS Hydro sword user with a solid defense stat. Xingqiu’s skills can buff your team’s defense, but his Elemental Skill and Burst also stick around when you switch to another character.

You can use Xingqiu’s Elemental Skill and Burst in conjunction with Chongyun’s freezing capabilities to constantly freeze your opponents. After using Xingqiu’s Elemental Burst or Elemental Skill, switch to Chongyun, use his Skill, and get freezing.

Sucrose is a great Support and Sub-DPS character who can come in handy especially when doing time challenges, fighting mobs, or when playing through the Spiral Abyss part of Genshin Impact.

Sucrose’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst both focus on crowd control. She creates a vortex of wind that contains the enemy and amplifies the active element. You can easily use Chongyun’s powerful AoE Elemental Skill and switch to Sucrose to create a vortex, trapping enemies within it and spreading Cryo.
