Blazing Blessing

Elemental Skill

Thoma vaults forward with his polearm and delivers a flame-filled flying kick that deals AoE Pyro DMG, while also summoning a defensive Blazing Barrier.

At the moment of casting, Thoma’s Elemental Skill applies Pyro to himself.

The DMG Absorption of the Blazing Barrier scales off Thoma’s Max HP.

The Blazing Barrier has the following traits:Absorbs Pyro DMG 250% more effectively.

When a new Blazing Barrier is obtained, the remaining DMG Absorption of an existing Blazing Barrier will stack and its duration will be refreshed.

The maximum DMG Absoprtion of the Blazing Barrier will not exceed a certain percentage of Thoma’s Max HP.

Crimson Ooyoroi

Crimson Ooyoroi

Elemental Burst

Thoma spins his polearm, slicing at his foes with roaring flames that deal AoE Pyro DMG and weave themselves into a Scorching Ooyoroi.

Scorching Ooyoroi

While Scorching Ooyoroi is in effect, the active character’s Normal Attacks will trigger Fiery Collapse, dealing AoE Pyro DMG and summoning a Blazing Barrier.

Fiery Collapse can be triggered once every 1s.

Except for the amount of DMG they can absorb, the Blazing Barriers created in this way are identical to those created by Thoma’s Elemental Skill, Blazing Blessing:

Absorbs Pyro DMG 250% more effectively.

When a new Blazing Barrier is obtained, the remaining DMG Absorption of an existing Blazing Barrier will stack and its duration will be refreshed.

The maximum DMG Absorption of the Blazing Barrier will not exceed a certain percentage of Thoma’s Max HP.

If Thoma falls, the effects of Scorching Ooyoroi will be cleared.

Best Thoma Builds in Genshin Impact

Thoma is best suited to the support role, more specifically, the shielding role. Not only does he shield his team from damage, but he can also be a consistent pyro enabler as mentioned.

Thoma’s kit revolves around him having high HP as even his fourth ascension passive taps into this, buffing his elemental burst’s damage using his max HP.

Best Weapons for Thoma in Genshin Imapct

As you may see, some of these weapons have Energy Recharge as their substat. This is due to Thoma having a very high energy requirement for his elemental burst. However, Staff of Homa towers all over them due to the sheer amount of HP it provides and the effect of the weapon itself.

Staff of Homa

Staff of Homa

HP increased by 20%.

Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 0.8% of the wielder’s Max HP. When the wielder’s HP is less than 50%, this ATK Bonus is increased by an additional 1% of Max HP.

Skyward Spine

Favonius Lance

Favonius Lance

The Catch

The Catch

Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.

Best Artifacts for Thoma in Genshin Impact

Thoma benefits a lot from energy recharge. The ideal artifact sets for him would be a 2 piece Tenacity of the Millelith and a 2 piece Emblem of Severed Fates.

However, if you’re looking for more firepower, you can opt for 2 piece Crimson Witch of Flames and 2 piece Emblem of Severed Fates.

For mainstat priorities, go for HP% for Sands, Goblet, and Circlets.

Tenacity of the Millelith

Tenacity of the Millelith

  • 2-piece effect: HP + 20%
  • 4-piece effect: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the ATK of all nearby party members is increased by 20% and their Shield Strength is increased by 30% for 3s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s. This effect can still be triggered even when the character who is using this artifact set is not on the field.
Emblem of Severed Fate

Emblem of Severed Fates

  • 2-piece effect: Energy Recharge +20%
  • 4-piece effect: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

  • 4-piece effect: Increases Overloaded and Burning DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using an Elemental Skill increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10s. Max 3 stacks.

FAQs about Genshin Impact Thoma

Thoma’s constellations are one of a kind, and even probably the only character in which each of the constellations provides extreme value.

Obtaining multiple copies of Thoma significantly increases his supportive capabilities, and is recommended if you have primogems to spare.

The age of Thoma is not obviously stated in the game. His birthday is on January 9th.

Thoma’s shielding potential

Numbers-wise, Thoma has the second strongest shield in the game.

Thoma’s shield will surpass characters like Diona and Noelle when your shield is consistently refreshing, as his shields refresh off of Normal Attacks with his Elemental Burst.

According to the current rumors Thoma will return as part of the first banner of the upcoming 2.5 updates. This next banner will mainly be about the new 5-star character Yae Miko, but Thoma will be joined by fellow 4-star characters Fischl and Diona.

The best team composition to work with Thoma includes Tartaglia, Bennett, and Kazuha.
