Genshin Impact Inazuma Release Date: When is it?

The Inazuma region was officially released in Version 2.0 on July 21, 2021, through miHoYo’s 2.0 Livestream. 2.0 was considered one of the biggest updates, with a new region – Inazuma, and three new Inazuma characters – Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu, and a few new weapons and maps, and more.

Inazuma was the third region released in Genshin Impact, following Mondstadt and Liyue. It’s a Japanese-themed island nation. In the game’s main story, we learn Inazuma is currently under lockdown per the Electro Archon’s orders, so it’s incredibly difficult to get there. Luckily, it seems the Traveler will find their way there quite soon.

How to Unlock Inazuma in Genshin Impact

Since the Version 2.0 update, players can explore the Genshin Impact Inazuma for more fun, especially for Travelers who are fond of Japanese styles.

But first, you need to unlock the Inazuma region before traveling to the new islands.

You need to complete a couple of steps to unlock the Genshin Impact Inazuma region. Before starting, make sure you meet the requirements:

  • Raise your Adventure Rank (AR) to 30 or above.
  • Complete the Archon Quest, ‘Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves’.

Players can unlock Genshin Impact Inazuma by continuing the Archon Quest storyline after completing the prior events in the Liyue region.

You must complete all the main quests up through the “Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves” chapter from version 1.6.

If you reach Adventure Rank 30 and complete these quests, Inazuma is accessible in the game through the below steps:

  1. Navigate to the quest called “The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia”.
  2. Speak to Katheryine at the Adventurer’s Guild in Liyue.
  3. After a member of Beidou’s crew speaks to the Traveler, visit the Crux Fleet off the east coast of Guyun Stone Forest
  4. Speak to Beidou, who will shortly set the ship course for Inazuma.

At the conclusion of this introductory quest, you will soon find yourself in Inazuma now. The ship docks at a port in the Ritou subregion, where a teleport waypoint is just a few steps away.

The main storyline of Genshin Impact Inazuma has been completed in version 2.3. Until now, there are only three regions, including Inazuma, Liyue, and Mondstadt.

It’s rumored the Sumeru could be the next destination where players will surely find new Genshin Impact characters, challenges, and quests.

How to Get to Inazuma in Genshin Impact

The first part of the new Archon quest sends you to Liyue Harbor to speak with Katheryne from the Adventurer’s Guild.

The first part of this quest is called “Setting Sail”. If you choose the ‘navigate’ option in the quest menu, the marker on the map will show you where to go.

Once you’ve spoken to Katheryne and a crew member, you’ll be sent far to the east—again, you should have a marker on the map to signify where.

The easiest way to get there is to teleport to the Guyun Stone Forest area and then make your way to the ship. It’s pretty far out from the coast, so you’ll need to either glide or swim to reach it.

Once on board the ship, look for Beidou, the captain of Crux Fleet, and speak with her to trigger a cutscene.

Once that’s over, you’ll arrive in Inazuma and you’re free to start exploring the new region.

Some players find another way to get to Inazuma – by walking.

Genshin Impact Inazuma Characters

There are now 13 playable characters belonging to the Inazuma region, including Kuki Shinobu which is newly released in Version 2.7 on May 31st, 2022.

Genshin Impact Inazuma Islands and Maps

Narukami Island

Mihoyo revealed Narukami Island (Japanese: 鳴なる神かみ島じま Narukami-jima) during the update 1.5 special programs.

You can find the Grand Narukami Shrine on the mountain and the city of Inazuma on the coast.

The area spans across Ritou, it is port of entry, to Mt. Yougou which is home to the Grand Narukami Shrine, and on its coast is Inazuma City.

It also has a mass of dense forests under the moonlight and underwater ruins alike.

It is where the Inazuma Shogunate primarily takes rule, enforcing policies and laws in accordance with the Sakoku Decree. Inazuman public festivals and cultural events are being held here.

Seirai Island

Mihoyo revealed Seirai Island (Japanese: セイライ島じま Seirai-jima) during the version 1.6 update.

It is said that the island once experienced a calamity and the center of the island was enveloped by a perpetual thunderstorm.

This storm has resulted in the unique geography of the island. Until the Seirai Stormchasers quest series is completed, the center of the island is constantly afflicted with Balethunder and lightning that targets the player.

Even after completing the quest series, Electro Water will still persist at the center of the island, although it can be cleared by a nearby puzzle, which will reveal a large hole in the middle.

Tsurumi Island

Tsurumi Island (Japanese: 鶴つる観み Tsurumi) was also launched to players in the update of version 1.6, just like the Narukami Island.

It’s a mysterious island covered in fog.

Tsurumi Island was home to two ancient civilizations. One buried deep underground, before the time of the Thunderbird’s reign, is known as the Pre-Thunderbird Civilization.

The other came sometime after, the civilization where a tribe worshipped Kanna Kapatcir (becoming known as the Thunderbird Civilization) and was subsequently wiped out by it.

The land has since somewhat regrown and is now inhabited by hilichurls, riftwolves, and automatons.

Watatsumi Island

Watatsumi Island (Japanese: 海祇わたつみ島じま Watatsumi-jima) was also first opened to players in the version 1.6 update. The color of the foliage here is distinct from other areas.

Among these islands, it is located the farthest and on the opposite end of Narukami Island. It is known for its dense foliage in breathtaking colors which are distinct from plants found elsewhere.

Yashiori Island

Yashiori Island (Japanese: ヤシオリ島 Yashiori-jima) was first seen during the version 1.5 update. You can find the skeleton of a massive snake here.

At some point within the last two thousand years, the island was attacked by the Watatsumi Omikami Orobashi no Mikoto, an ancient god who created Watatsumi Island.

As a result of the heavy concentration of Tatarigami energy, the island suffers from torrential rainfall and frequent thunderstorms in the open, which in turn applies to constant Wet status.

Getting hit by a thunderstorm while raining can cause Electro-Charged. Until the quest for Orobashi’s Legacy is fully completed, this abnormal weather will remain on the island.

FAQs on Genshin Impact Inazuma

How to unlock Inazuma? To access Inazuma, you must be Adventure Rank 30 or above, and be able to start the Archon quest ‘Chapter II: Act I – The Immortal God and the Eternal Euthymia’. The first part of the quest, Setting Sail, takes place in Liyue Harbor.

Normally, you can’t enter Inazuma until reaching Adventure Rank 30, and after completing a series of quests to get there.

You need to defeat two Thunderhelm Lawachurls in 80 seconds. Once all three are completed, head back to the island.

Remember to shoot all three Electro Pillars, and the second all three are electrified, Moshiri Kara will appear.

It is an archipelagic region that worships the Raiden Shogun, the Electro Archon, who is also the leader of its governing body, the Inazuma Shogunate.

Inazuma is located approximately 4 km southeast of Liyue Harbor and is a close neighbor of the Dark Sea.

Most notably, it revealed that 8,793 Genshin Impact players ended up deciding to walk from Liyue Harbor to Inazuma City, rather than teleport or take a boat.

When talking about the accomplishment, miHoYo clarified how these people managed the feat.

There are six major islands in Inazuma.

Remember, though, that Inazuma has a total of six major islands, the sixth one being the fogged-shrouded Tsurumi Island.

Inazuma means lightning.

稲妻 (Inazuma): lightning, especially cloud-to-ground lightning.

And unlike the Dodoland Golden Apple Archipelago event region introduced in Genshin Impact 1.6, the Inazuma region will form a permanent addition to the world of Teyvat.

Inazuma was officially introduced to us through Mihoyo’s 2.0 Livestream that happened on July 9, 2021. The 2.0 update was released on July 21, 2021!

If you follow the order that’s featured in the Genshin Impact preview trailer — which the game has followed until now — Sumeru is the next region set to arrive after Inazuma.

In terms of what we know about Sumeru, it’s a nation known for scholarly pursuits and is made up of sandy deserts and lush rainforests.
